WHAT’S THE BEST GAS FOR YOUR VEHICLE?

You may have wondered if there is a recommended type of gas for your vehicle and if you don’t use that gas, are you harming the car at all? We’re here to clear these questions up for you to ensure you are getting the best gas for your vehicle without breaking your wallet.

Start by taking the time to check your car’s owners manual or inside of the fuel filler door to identify if your dealership listed a specific type of gasoline recommended for your vehicle. Often this is a recommendation in the form of suggesting the use of premium gas.

Many brands like Audi, Toyota, BMW, General Motors, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Volkswagen, Honda, and Mercedes-Benz have started to recommend Top-Tier gas to their customers so their engines first performance and emissions remain unchanged over time. So what is Top Tier? This premium gas gets its name because it has additives and detergents that prevent residue build up on the valves which can negatively impact your engine. As a result of the additives, the gas will have higher octane levels, helping the fuel effectively burn while keeping the engine clean.

Using Top Tier gas consistently poses several benefits to the car that may be worth it in the end. Depending on the type of detergent used in the gas, AAA found that this premium gas can have a cleansing effect which reduces carbon build up and intake valve deposits when used over a 5,000-mile interval.

Top Tier fuel will ultimately keep your engine running smoothly, although it’s unlikely you’ll feel a difference from sitting in the car. Some cars that prefer premium grade gas are the Chevrolet Malibu, Fiat 500, GMC Terrain, Nissan Juke, Jeep Renegade, and every vehicle in the MINI Cooper showroom. It’s recommended that motorists should regularly use Top Tier gasoline as well.

That said, standard gasoline sold at any gas station in the U.S. is good quality as regulations require a level of standard quality to remain consistent. If premium gas is not necessary for your car, using regular gas will cause no damage to your vehicle. Just make sure you are continually using the same type of gas for your car.
